Jiangsu Cup 2021 GW students

At the 2021 Jiangsu Cup Chinese Speech Contest held on April 10, 2021, our students took both Gold Awards and one Silver Award. Congratulations to these student contestants:

  • Chris Collins (pictured in middle above): Gold Award
  • Maya Clydesdale (pictured on left): Gold Award
  • William Treaux Jackson (picture on right): Silver Award

It was a very competitive contest with 16 participants from Georgetown, University of Virginia, American University, George Mason University, James Madison University, as well as the George Washington University. The most recent time GW won both gold awards was in 2012. So this year marks another major achievement by our students.

Thanks also go to our Chinese faculty who coached these students in preparation for the contest: Professors Miaochun Wei, Qingming Zhou, and Hongyuan Dong.

The Jiangsu Cup Chinese Speech Contest is the premier Chinese language speech competition for the Greater Washington D.C. higher education community, annually welcoming student competitors from universities and colleges throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia.
