J.LIVE Talk

Welcome to Japanese Learning Inspired Vision & Engagement Talk!

J.LIVE Talk is a national presentation contest with the focus on 21st century skills, held annually since 2015. It evaluates the dynamism, vision and level of engagement of each participant’s presentation, which can include audio-visual materials, audience interaction, and other innovations that enhance their talk in a manner similar to the TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) talks.

This year we had the 10th J.LIVE Talk on November 3rd on the George Washington University campus.  15 finalists delivered unique presentations full of inspirational messages.

We were so glad to see how the students learning Japanese built lasting friendships and motivated each other. We are hoping that this lively learning community will keep growing.

J.LIVE Talk receives Ambassador’s Commendation

On November 1, 2024, the Japanese Learning Inspired Vision and Engagement (J.LIVE) Talk program at The George Washington University’s Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures was honored with the Ambassador’s Commendation for its significant contributions to fostering friendly relations and mutual understanding between Japan and the United States. Specifically, J.LIVE Talk was recognized for its significant role in identifying and nurturing the next generation of leaders equipped with advanced Japanese language and communication skills.

Launched in 2015, J.LIVE Talk is a nationwide Japanese presentation competition that offers a dynamic platform for language learners to demonstrate their accomplishments. Through compelling multimedia presentations, the program highlights the value of Japanese education and engages 21st-century audiences in a meaningful way.

This commendation not only acknowledges the program’s dedicated efforts but also celebrates the passion and achievements of Japanese learners and the unwavering commitment of language professionals across the nation. We are deeply grateful to the Embassy of Japan in the United States for this prestigious recognition and for their continued support of Japanese language and cultural education.
