Korean Major Starting in Fall 2019!

September 10, 2018
We are delighted to share with you that the Korean major has been officially approved by the University. With the addition of four new courses (Advanced Conversation and Composition I and II, Introduction to the History of the Korean Language, and North Korean Society and Culture) all approved, we will be offering the major from Fall of 2019. The details will be announced shortly on this website.

On this happy occasion, we would like to share our deepest gratitude to the Korea Foundation, whose continued support throughout the years has enabled the growth of both the Korean studies and Korean faculty, ultimately allowing us to begin this new major. We are also most grateful to Professor Emeritus Young-Key Kim-Renaud, who has been devoted to the efforts of establishing a strong Korean program in our Department.

Each and every one of the Korean faculty members in the department feels that the Korean major came in such a timely manner with today’s increasing demand and rapid growth of Korean studies nation-wide, and we anticipate that it will contribute to our department and to our university as a whole. We are happy and thankful to know that we have your continuous support to embark on this new chapter of the Korean program.
